Care instructions - Solid Brass sinks and fittings

RAW BRASS SINKS & FITTINGS

Raw brass products are known for natural anti-bacterial properties which bring health benefits to your food preparation by removing toxins from your kitchen. Raw brass is a living material which will age and patinate in time, depending on its environment and level of care. The process of oxidisation is influenced by exposure to water and may result in sink and fittings gradually getting darker. Both virgin and pre-patinated finish can also get altered if corrosive foodstuffs, for instance sliced lemon, are left in the sink. Any colour patchiness can be largely prevented by regular daily care and use of wax sprays like Aristowax Non-silicone Woodsilk. All our pre-patinated raw brass products also come factory pre-waxed to protect their finish in the initial period.

DAILY CLEANING

The raw brass products should be wiped down with wet cloth after each use, any food residue should be removed without using abrasive materials or chemicals, and finished off by drying the surface with soft cloth. Leaving corrosive foodstuffs on the sink surface can alter its appearance.

PERIODIC CARE
Should for any reason daily cleaning not have been adhered to and the brass surfaces develop different colour residue, please follow this procedure:

  • In case of waxed PATINATED BRASS sink, you can wipe the surfaces with dry scouring pad, moving your hand in the same direction. This will take off the unwanted residue as well as some patina, depending on how much pressure you apply. After cleaning the surfaces, you can protect your sink by spraying on non-silicone wax solution such as Aristowax Woodsilk. Buff it with soft cloth afterwards. Any patina that you may have brushed off, will be gradually restored through natural oxidisation.
  • In case of raw VIRGIN BRASS sinks, you can brush the surfaces with scouring pad and abrasive cream such as the Pink Stuff, which will restore the yellow colour of virgin brass.

LACQUERED BRASS SINKS & FITTINGS

Lacquered brass products are made of solid brass and its surfaces protected by clear electrophoretic lacquer and cured in industrial oven, which enables retention of original colour subject to appropriate care.

DAILY CLEANING
Lacquered brass products should be wiped down with wet cloth after each use, any food residue should be removed without using abrasive materials or chemicals, and finished off by drying the surface with soft cloth.
